Luis Castro

Junior Chairman - 2025-26 / 2026-27

Luis is the Asset Surveillance and Intervention Leader for Baker Hughes and is based in Houston, TX. 

With over 20 years in the industry, he’s an advocate for intervention and production enhancement to sustainably maximize the performance of existing assets, a passion fuelled by diverse technical, operational, commercial, and management positions throughout his career in various countries.  

Luis holds a Chemical Engineering Degree from Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela and a MA in Management from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Luis is the current Junior Chair for the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA).

Luis has been a member of ICoTA since 2013. He served on the ICoTA USA Board from 2014 – 2018, as Secretary and Director-at-Large. In 2022 Luis served as the Global SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference Junior Chair and then served as the Senior Chairman on the 2023 event.
